Terms of Service.

The agreement between your barn and EquiPortal.

Last updated: October 20, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and EquiPortal ("EquiPortal", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the EquiPortal website, web app, and mobile apps (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Who these terms are for

  • Barns — the stable or business that subscribes to EquiPortal is our customer. The person who signs up confirms they can bind that business to these Terms.
  • Staff — managers and staff invited by a barn use the Service on the barn's behalf and under the barn's account.
  • Owners and boarders — people a barn invites to its portal use the Service to view and manage their own horses and accounts with that barn.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details private and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused. You are responsible for activity under your account. Barns are responsible for who they invite and the roles they give them.

Subscription and billing

  • Plans — barns subscribe to a monthly or annual plan, as shown on our pricing page at the time of purchase.
  • Free trial — new barns may start with a free trial. If a payment method is on file and you don't cancel before the trial ends, your plan begins and is charged automatically. If no payment method is on file, the trial simply ends and nothing is charged.
  • Renewal — plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel anytime in Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
  • Refunds — fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Price changes — we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to your plan.
  • Taxes — prices exclude applicable taxes, which you are responsible for.

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers.

Payments between barns and boarders

EquiPortal lets a barn bill its own boarders and owners. Those payments run through the barn's own Stripe account, connected to EquiPortal through Stripe Connect.

  • EquiPortal is not a party to any agreement or payment between a barn and its boarders. The barn sets its own prices, invoices, policies, and refunds, and is responsible for them.
  • Questions or disputes about board, services, or charges go to the barn, not EquiPortal.
  • We are not a bank, money transmitter, or payment processor, and we never hold barn or boarder funds.

Stripe services

Payment processing services for barns on EquiPortal are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement (collectively, the "Stripe Services Agreement"). By agreeing to these Terms or continuing to operate as a barn accepting payments through EquiPortal, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as it may be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of EquiPortal enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide EquiPortal accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you authorize EquiPortal to share it and transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful.
  • Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that is abusive or infringing.
  • Access another barn's data, or try to get around access controls or roles.
  • Probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
  • Resell or share access to the Service outside your barn.

Your data

  • You own it — the barn keeps ownership of the information it and its people add to EquiPortal ("Barn Data").
  • Our use — you give us permission to host, process, and display Barn Data only as needed to run, secure, and support the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Your responsibility — the barn is responsible for having the right to collect and share the information it adds, including about its staff and boarders.
  • Leaving — you can ask us for a copy of your Barn Data within 30 days after your account ends. After that we may delete it, except where we must keep it by law.

Our service

We own EquiPortal and its software, design, and content. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your barn while your account is in good standing. We may improve or change the Service over time and will give notice before removing a feature you pay for. Feedback you send us may be used freely to improve the Service.

Care records are a tool, not advice

EquiPortal helps you keep track of horses, feeding, health, and care. It does not provide veterinary, medical, or professional advice. Decisions about animal care remain the responsibility of the barn and owners.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, EquiPortal will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Indemnity

The barn agrees to defend and hold EquiPortal harmless from claims arising from its Barn Data, its dealings with its boarders and staff, or its breach of these Terms.

Suspension and termination

  • You can stop using the Service and cancel your plan at any time.
  • We may suspend or end access for non-payment, a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we'll give notice first.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive — such as billing owed, data, disclaimers, liability, and indemnity — survive termination.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Lake County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and give notice of material changes. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Service. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger or sale of our business.
